Yelena was born in the Far East of Russia. She started her artistic
training in early childhood and was educated in the finest traditions
of XIX century Russian Realistic painting.
After receiving MA's in Fine Arts with a major in Oil painting and Art
history from the Khabarovsk Fine Art & Graphic University. She spent
the first 10 years in her artistic career as a teacher in ART College
While teaching in Art College she discovered and fell in love with the
mystery and magic of Painting on Silk.
Paining on Silk became her main technique for 20 years. But recently
she feels that she has a passion to try something different and take
a swing at oil painting again, but she will still continue to paint
on silk as well. The styles in both techniques are very similar and
complement each other with the nature of their own beauty.
In 1997, Yelena and her family decided to move to the US. She arrived
in Denver in 1997 with but a few hundred dollars in her pocket and a
passion for Painting. As difficult as it was to start her career from
scratch in a new country, the artist's talents and incredible work ethics
helped Yelena find her place in the competitive artistic word.
The frolic of creative work, joys and challenges are the true sources
of an artist's happiness and inspiration. Yelena paintings are exhibited
in galleries and art museums throughout the world and her silk and Oil
wall hangings are being purchased extensively for public and private
collections.
My feelings, dreams and thoughts emerge, transformed into droplets of
liquid dye, as silk painting. My art is a gentle therapist who helps
me through the darkest periods of my life and illuminates the joyous
times While painting I do not only transform a plain piece of silk or
canvas into a piece of art.
I transform the world around me: every drop of dye on silk is one drop
of magic into my existence I like to work in different genre's :still-life
, landscape, as well as symbolic figurative compositions. When drawing
women's gentle and mysterious images I express Joy, Peace, and harmony.
Harmony to me is a poetry of lines and colors that has a life of its
own .
